Epek Long-Distance Cultural Sharing and Training Center in Kabul, Afghanistan

Long Distance Cultural Sharing (LDC) Program

Currently we are training 24 leaders (both men and women) of bAhem via phone, online platforms, and social media. Our need is for equipment (computers, printers, screen, projector, and training room set-up) to better serve these leaders. The Training Center will be used to do small group programs facilitated by dependable internet and computers to give the access to training, accountability, and encouragement.

Young Adult Training Program

The majority of Afghanistan’s population is younger than age 24. Much of this young labor force enters the job market with little education. We will train 380 young men and women in business administration, computers, and English.

This one-year program will give the students an equivalent of a Diploma of Business Administration. The program will utilize the skills of international partners, local EPEK-trained leaders, as well as local businessmen and women. This will be a feeder program to the LDC program.

An important and timely new way Epek is facilitating health and wellness in Kabul, Afghanistan: clean water

Epek International is excited to announce our partnership with WaterStep International.

Access to clean water is a major obstacle in many parts of the world. This is highlighted as hand-washing is a significant part of fighting the coronavirus. What do communities with no access to clean water do when they know this is a vital part of staying healthy, but it is just not possible? This is the sanitation crisis issue facing many poor families, street-working children, and displaced people in Afghanistan.

Many water solutions are effective, but not sustainable in communities without infrastructure to run complex water treatment processes.

The M-100 Chlorine Generator generates chlorine gas and can process 10,000 gallons of water in a 24-hour period. It uses salt, a car battery (or battery source that can be solar charged) and that's it.

Our Afghan team in Kabul (bAhem) is already dreaming about ways to use this equipment to serve and share with their communities.

WaterStep’s BleachMaker makes a bleach solution to be used as a general purpose disinfectant. The production of a strong effective disinfectant made on site, easily and at a low cost, will promote improved sanitation and hygiene.
