INITIATIVE: HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Food Distribution in Cooperation with IDES and Epek Volunteers
Our ongoing goal is to meet the most dire physical needs of families in IDP (internally displaced people) camps in Kabul. This project focused on hunger.
Together with IDES, and volunteers, we were able to assemble and provide nutritious food packages to feed families for more than a month.
There are 3800 families in the two camps we served, and we selected the 1400 families in most need. We brought the families in small groups to our offices and gave them a 45-day supply of food and a blanket. Each time we are able to meet some of the immediate needs they have, we are deepening relationships and building trust with the leaders and families there.
During this time there were many attacks in Kabul. There were several families directly impacted by the loss of husbands, children, and other extended family. Our team took the food packages to them personally in the camp and expressed our sympathy and showed compassion to them.
