INITIATIVE: HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Food Distribution to IDP Camps in Kabul

Our ongoing goal is to meet the most dire physical needs of families in IDP (internally displaced people) camps in Kabul. Together with IDES, and volunteers, we were able to assemble and provide nutritious food packages to feed families for more than a month.

Each time we are able to meet some of the immediate needs they have, we are deepening relationships and building trust with the leaders and families there. There are 3800 families in the two camps we served, and we selected the 1400 families in most need. We brought the families in small groups to our offices and gave them a 45-day supply of food and a blanket.

During this time there were many attacks in Kabul. There were several families directly impacted by the loss of husbands, children and other extended family. Our team took the food packages to them personally in the camp and expressed our sympathy and showed compassion to them.

These families literally had no idea how they would be able to provide food for even one day, and this gift of 45+ days of food is a miracle to them. The Epek team in the US and Kabul is so grateful for the continued partnership of IDES to make feeding families possible.

specifics of what was accomplished:

• IDES, Epek International, and a team of volunteers on the ground in Kabul that assembled the food packages, worked together to make this possible

Next Steps:

With financial support and prayer, we hope to continue to provide meals for those in need during Afghanistan’s food insecurity crisis. Please consider a gift. $45 feeds a family for more than one month!

These families had no idea how they would be able to provide food for even one day. This gift of 45+ days of food is a miracle to them.
